How ordering works, in full
The rules for order requests, paying at pickup, deposits, changes and cancellations, and local pickup.
Last updated October 9, 2026
THE SHORT VERSION
- Sending an order request isn’t a purchase and nothing is charged.
- Your order is agreed once Charlie confirms it by text or email.
- You pay at pickup. Some orders need a deposit, and you’ll know before anything is printed.
- Pickup is local; the spot and time are shared when Charlie confirms.
- To change or cancel, just contact Charlie.
Order requests
Charlie’s 3D Fun Factory is a one-person 3D print shop run by Charlie. When you check out, you send an order request, not a purchase. Nothing is charged.
- Charlie reviews every request and confirms the details, timing, price and any deposit with you by text or email, whichever you chose. An order is agreed only once Charlie confirms it.
- Charlie may decline a request, for example when an item is out of stock or can’t be ready by your date. You’ll hear why.
- A need-by date helps Charlie plan. Timing is agreed when your order is confirmed.
- Prices shown include sales tax. If a price or description on the site turns out to be wrong, Charlie will tell you before confirming, and you can cancel without paying anything.
Promo codes
- One code per order. Each code’s conditions are shown when you apply it at checkout.
- Codes can’t be exchanged for cash, and Charlie may pause or end a code at any time.
- Once your order is confirmed, Charlie honors the discount shown on it.
Paying at pickup
You pay the amount due when you pick up your order, in a way Charlie confirms with you. There are no online payments yet. If you paid a deposit, it comes off what you pay at pickup.
Deposits
For large, custom or multi-color orders, Charlie may ask for a deposit when confirming. You’ll be told the amount and how to pay it before anything is printed.
- If Charlie cancels your order, your deposit is refunded in full.
- If you cancel before printing starts, your deposit is refunded in full.
- After printing starts, a deposit on custom or made-to-order work may be kept to cover materials and time.
Changes and cancellations
- To change or cancel an order, reply to your order email or write to orders@charliefactory.com. Charlie will confirm what can still be changed.
- Nothing is paid online, so cancelling costs nothing, except that a deposit may be kept once printing has started (see Deposits).
- If Charlie has to cancel an order, you’ll be told why and any deposit is refunded in full.
Pickup
- Pickup is local, and shipping isn’t available yet. The pickup spot and time are shared when Charlie confirms your order; they’re never published on the site.
- Bring your order number (it starts with CF-). If someone else is collecting for you, tell Charlie first.
- Orders are held for 14 days after Charlie lets you know they’re ready. After that, Charlie may cancel the order, and any deposit is handled as described under Deposits.
If something’s wrong
Please check your order at pickup. If something is wrong then, or a defect shows up within 14 days of pickup, contact Charlie: you’ll get a reprint or a refund of what you paid for that item.
Every piece is printed in layers, so fine layer lines and small color differences between batches of filament are normal and aren’t defects.
Using your prints safely
- Prints can have small parts. They aren’t suitable for children under 3, and younger kids should play with them under supervision.
- Prints aren’t food safe unless a listing says so.
- Plastic prints can soften or warp in high heat, such as a hot car.
Designs and custom requests
- Some designs are Charlie’s own; others are licensed from independent designers. Charlie makes every piece.
- Buying a print gets you the printed item. It doesn’t give you the design files or the right to copy or sell the design.
- A custom request asks for a quote. Nothing is agreed until Charlie replies and you accept. Only send ideas, names and images you have the right to use; Charlie may decline any request.
Accounts and using the site
- Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for orders sent from your account.
- Please don’t misuse the site: no automated ordering, scraping, or trying to get around its protections. Charlie may close accounts or decline orders that do.
- How your details are used is explained in the privacy policy.
Responsibility and disputes
Charlie makes every piece with care. As far as the law allows, the shop’s responsibility for an order is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.
If something goes wrong, please contact Charlie first at orders@charliefactory.com. Most problems are sorted out quickly.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top. The terms shown when you sent your order request apply to that order.
